I am inspired by patterns and compositions found in nature.
Always searching for patterns and compositions in the world around me I surround myself with ever changing collected bits of visual information…photos of the landscape, tree bark, leaves and lichen.
By comparing and contrasting microscopic and macro views and the connections between them, I am seeking to describe the visual relationships between minute details of natural objects and views of distant topographies.
To create my work, I use everything I have ever learned as a working artist for the past 30 years, combining traditional craft and art techniques and materials – paper, fabric wood; pencils, ink and paint - with contemporary digital image manipulation and reproduction.
I like to think of my pieces as small windows; selected observations of the beautiful world we live in.
